Praat (Dutch for 'speak') is an open-source computer program for analysing and manipulating speech signals. It can also be used to create images, e.g. of a speech signal or spectral analysis (spectrogram). The source code of the program has been released under GPL. Praat is used frequently in Linguistics and Speech Sciences.
Praat was created by Paul Boersma and David Weenink of the Institute of Phonetic Sciences of the University of Amsterdam. There are versions for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
